With its pastel pink facade and ornate architecture, Khoon Seng Tng Temple at Telok Blangah Drive would not look out of place amongst the photogenic locales on trendy young people’s Instagram feeds. But the temple’s retro-chic aesthetic belies its’ rich nearly 140-year-long history. While today it functions as a regular temple, with devotees visiting to pray for safety, good health, fertility, and success in academics, Khoon Seng Tng was once a safe haven for orphaned or abandoned baby girls that were sent there. The myhomeSG video series by ST's photojournalists looks into their connection to places that hold a special meaning to them.
